Text Messaging Terms of Service

Established clients will have the option to opt-in to receive text messages for care coordination. By providing your mobile phone number and opting in to receive text messages from Canopy Kids, you consent to receive SMS/text communications related to occupational therapy services and scheduling. Text messages may include:

• Appointment reminders or rescheduling requests
• Coordination regarding meeting locations for community-based sessions
• Links to maps or Google location services to assist with appointments
• Limited administrative communications related to your care

Clients opt in to receive text messages by providing written consent as part of intake paperwork. Consent to receive text messages is voluntary and may be revoked at any time.  

Message frequency will vary depending on your appointment schedule and service needs.  

You may opt out of receiving text messages at any time by:

• Replying STOP to any message, or
• Contacting Canopy Kids directly at 651-360-1662 or megan@canopy-kids.com

After opting out, you will no longer receive SMS communications except as required for administrative or legal purposes.  

Standard message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier plan.  

Text messaging is not a fully secure method of communication and may carry some privacy risks. Clients should not send sensitive or confidential medical information through text message. Please do not include HIPAA-protected health information (PHI) in text messages, including:

• Diagnoses or medical conditions
• Treatment details
• Insurance or billing information
• Personally sensitive health information

Canopy Kids will make reasonable efforts to limit text communications to scheduling, logistical coordination, and other non-sensitive administrative matters. For more information about how your information is collected, used, and protected, please review our Privacy Policy.  

Text messaging is not monitored continuously and should not be used for emergencies, urgent medical concerns, or time-sensitive clinical issues. If you are experiencing an emergency, call 911 or seek immediate assistance.
